Jean Valjean is a convict released after 19 years. He is set to go to where he will be held for parole, but on his travel he meets a priest that enlightens him. Years later he is a mayor in a town and meets inspector Javert, who aressts a woman for being a prostitute. Valjean saves her, and promises to go get her little girl and bail her out of debt. Javert found out who he is and arrests him. After Saving a man and nearly dieing he escapes and find Cossete, the girl. he does and raises her on his own jumping from town to town. Then she is all grown and meets Marius a young man in lawyer school, and the revolution starts. What happens next? read or listen or watch and find out.
I loved listening to this because you could hear the background noises may they be horse hooves to gunfire. The characters were all acted by amazing voice actors and you can practically see their personalities. I have been to the country where this takes place (France) and got to see where all of these places were. Also Victor Hugo's other book "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is very good, I read it in the 4th grade.
I suggest people over elementary not to read/listen to this. Even on the case in which it comes it warns not to listen if you are under 8.
