All Thomas remembers is his first name nothing else.He is on a lift when the door opens he is surrounded by a large expanse of land full of kids surrounded by stone walls. They call this place the Glade. None of the boys remember anything else about themselves. All they know is every month the lift door opens and another boy arrives AND don't get stuck in the Maze after dark. The day after Thomas's arrival a girl comes out of the lift, the first one ever, and she delivers a message. The Gladers are convinced they can solve the maze and go home, wherever that is. Thomas gets a weird feeling and realizes that the answer to the maze might be in his own subconscious.
I loved "The Maze Runner". It had its ups and downs including some sad parts. This book also is incredibly funny. The characters have no back story, but have huge personalities. I didn't get the plot until the very end and then there was a HUGE cliff hanger. There is a second book that I never got about to reading.
